About this gallery: The first 12 prints were done as a series in 1984/85 as part of a sabbatical project which involved the production of woodcut prints on the idea of the prophets, priests and kings. Woodcut prints are made by carving the image into a wood block of birch plywood. It is the white areas that are cut away to create the image. After the cutting is complete, the surface of the block is covered with ink, using a roller. Paper is placed upon the inked block and rubbed with a wooden spoon. After the rubbing is done the print is pulled.
