Emergency Cancellations and Closings
In the event of severe weather conditions and warnings, church offices and events may be closed and cancelled. Tune in to WCSG 91.3 FM, WOOD 1300 AM, 105.7FM, WOOD TV Channel 8, or WZZM TV Channel 13 for reported cancellations. Closing of Rockford Public Schools DOES NOT necessarily mean that Wednesday evening events and activities are cancelled. Decisions to close or cancel will be made and broadcast prior to 4pm.

Short Term Missions

BVC (Bella Vista Church) is strategically involved in Short Term Missions (STM) and follows these priorities in sending out STM teams.

To visit regularly supported BVC missionaries to encourage and assist them.

To build relationships in targeted needful least reached areas of the world .
To provide meaningful cross cultural ministry opportunities for the BVC family.

BVC Short Term Missions Training Information

This training is mandatory for all team members and is open to anyone interested in BVC Missions. The training class will be held in early spring. Sign-up to attend this class in the gym at the missions table. Contact Laura Cronin with questions.

All potential team members please note the following requirements for BVC short- term missionaries:

Adults will be members or have completed and agree with the 3M course. Students will follow the BVC Student Missions level system.
Pick up and fill out a short-term missions team application. Return completed applications to the yellow box in the gym.
Due Dates:
Jan. 13, 2008 - Newark, Haiti, Chile, Mexico
Feb. 24, 2008 - All Student Trips, Zambia
Sign up for an interview with the Team Leader.
Sign up for mandatory Missions Training Classes, date(s) to be announced. Team members who have already completed 2 full sessions of missions training are required to attend an Advanced Missions Training class (qualifying classes to be announced).
Form a Personal Prayer Team of at least 10 prayer partners who will pray every day of your trip.
Read a missions related book and hand in a short report before departing for the trip. Obtain the report form from the BVC Library, and return to team leader when completed.
Raise support or personally pay all expenses related to the trip before departing. Initial deposit is due with application (see Due Dates above).

Past Teams

Over the past few years, Bella Vista Church has seen an escalating interest in short term missions. This interest has been coupled with an exponential increase in prayer coverage for the teams, which has resulted in abundant blessings. Informed prayer has been facilitated by email coordination between the team members and prayer partners. We praise God for the blessings he has poured out on the teams, mission projects, and on personal lives!

Team members have recorded their experiences and these have been compiled each year into composite journals starting in 2000. The journals tell the marvelous things God has done for us and through us. They also can be used as a way for people at BVC who are not able to go on the trips to experience some of the joys and trials that go along with a trip, and to know better how to pray for future teams. These journals are available in the BVC library or may be purchased for a minimal fee. To purchase a journal, contact the BVC office.
